Mark Man Ceremony

...ever mindful of the inexorable passage of time and the importance to never waste this important gift of god...
At our regular March Meeting, our lodge held the Mark Man Ceremony.
This ceremony is unique to NSW freemasonry and encourages brethren who have been raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason, to advance their Masonic Instruction to the completion of Pure Ancient Masonry.
Pure Ancient Masonry is described as the 3 craft Degrees (Entered Apprentice Freemason, Fellowcraft Freemason, Master Mason, together with the Honourable Degree of a Mark Master Mason and the Supreme Order of the Holy Royal Arch.
Lodge Southern Cross was very fortunate to have 22 brethren from 12 different lodges put themselves forward as candidates for the Ceremony. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Highest representatives from both the United Grand Lodge of NSW & the ACT, as well as the Highest Representative from the Supreme Order of the Holy Royal Arch and Mark Master Masons, attended the Lodge as part of a Grand Delegation.
In the picture below, from right to left, you can see from our last Mark Man Ceremony last year:
-The Worshipful Master of Lodge Southern Cross #91 – WBro Kendall Merrick (Now the Immediate Past Master),
- The Most Worshipful Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of NSW and the ACT, MWBro Dr Gregory Levenston (Now Immediate Past Grand Master),
- The First Grand Principal and Grand Master of the United Supreme Grand Chapter of the Holy Royal Arch and Mark Master Masons, MEx Comp Ted Keenahan,
- The Assistant Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of NSW and the ACT, RWBro Walid Mehanna.

The Right Worshipful Brother, The Most Excellent Companion, The Most Worshipful Brother & the Worshipful Master in the Chair
The ceremony introduces the candidates to further understanding of their Fellowcraft degrees and prepares them to set a good example to their community and to their peers so that they can be recognised, evaluated and rewarded as true and honest labourer. It also ritually and mentally prepares the candidate for the Honourable degree of a Mark Master Mason, without revealing parts or premises of that degree.
Lodge Southern Cross undertakes this ceremony once a year to aid brethren to further their Masonic Instruction.
